Mystical Orion

Lastnight there were low translucent light clouds passing over the sky. This photo aimed at the constellation Orion was taken on a 30 second exposure. The cloud movement created this wispy effect and the suburban street lights illuminated the clouds. I increased the contrast slightly for more impact but that was the only PC edit.

I like it! The wispy red clouds are a really nice touch. Looks almost like a nebula.

I see what you mean. Nebulae were indeed well named from the Latin for clouds!

The odd thing is I was originally annoyed to see clouds in the sky as I was just looking to photograph Orion. When the clouds wouldn't go away I thought I'd try to make a silk purse from a sows ear!

I like it too. I love Orion. My dad taught me how to find it (look for the belt) when I was about 8. To this day, it's the only constellation I can find.

Hi Ann. I hope country life is fun!

Yes Orion is the constellation many get to know, it's big and well defined.
